OPERATION RENOVATION

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 385 is committed to serving another generation of Canadians. We remember and honour the service of the men and women of the armed forces who sacrificed for Canada in the past and who today, at risk of their lives, represent our country, seeking to make the world a better place. However, today we are challenged to pursue our mission with the same vigour, as our membership ages. We know the Legion needs to be more appealing to a new generation of Canadians, who care about keeping alive the spirit of service and sacrifice that has helped protect and build our country.

The Legion’s remembrance activities are highly visible, with Remembrance Day activities across Canada, support for Canada Day activities and the annual Poppy Campaign. But because the Poppy Campaign proceeds are held in trust to support the Legion’s outreach to veterans and their families, its proceeds are NOT spent on branch facilities.

The Aurora Legion Hall has been an important gathering place for community groups of all kinds, hosting the meetings of other service clubs, non-profit organizations, youth sports leagues, etc. The Legion Hall is also accessed widely in the community as a reasonably priced place to hold social events and weddings.

We are asking you to join us as we “Light Up The Legion” with a night of entertainment and fun in support of “Operation Renovation,” our plan to rejuvenate this branch of the Royal Canadian Legion so it can carry on its mission of remembrance and community service into this Century.

So we need you to join “Operation Renovation”
There are three ways you can help the Legion carry on with its important mission.
The first two are easy.
• Join the Legion and ask others to join, too. We have open, accessible membership.
• Make a point of attending and inviting others to attend our Fall season of Friday night entertainment that we’re calling “Aurora Borealis” as we “Light Up The Legion.”
We’re working toward the goal of renovating the facility in which we’re gathered tonight. Funds raised through our Friday night entertainment program will help us toward that goal.

Still we will need even more money and other kinds of help to get the job done.
•    Great Friday night music & entertainment open to everyone
•    Food & beverages
•    Starting September 19th featuring an evening of live entertainment with George St. Kitts and his band

Tickets for Legion Members are $45.00, general admission is $55.00 and may be reserved by calling the Legion Clubroom at 905-727-9932.
